Grief Made the Album. Pharrell Made It Bigger.

Quavo wrote on Instagram that he and Pharrell made QRÖMELIFE in 2025, when he was still dealing with grief after the death of Takeoff, his nephew and Migos groupmate, who was fatally shot in Houston on November 1, 2022. Pharrell’s instruction during the recording sessions was direct: go bigger, try to make stadium music. The result is QRÖMELIFE, Quavo’s third solo studio album, released October 2, 2026 via Quality Control Music and Motown Records. Fourteen tracks produced entirely by Pharrell Williams. Features from Offset, Tyler the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Future, Lil Baby, Justin Timberlake, T.I., and Yung Miami. The biggest reunion on the album is the one nobody expected: “Away” with Offset, the first time the two have collaborated in years.

Who Quavo Is and What Migos Built

Quavo, born Quavious Keyate Marshall on April 2, 1991 in Athens, Georgia, formed Migos in 2008 alongside Takeoff and Offset. The group’s triplet flow reshaped how Atlanta rap was delivered and how trap music was written globally. Culture (2017) and Culture II (2018) put Migos at the center of a commercial and cultural peak. After Takeoff was fatally shot in November 2022, the group eventually disbanded in 2023. Quavo released Rocket Power in 2023 as a direct response to his grief, dedicated to Takeoff. QRÖMELIFE is the chapter after that, the one where the work of living and rebuilding takes shape in music.

Why Pharrell and Why Now

Pharrell Williams and Quavo have maintained a creative relationship across several years, with Pharrell contributing to Culture III. But QRÖMELIFE is the first time Pharrell has handled an entire Quavo solo project, and the scope of what he built here reflects what he asked Quavo to attempt: stadium-scale sound layered over personal content. “Baby Breath” puts Pharrell, Tyler the Creator, and A$AP Rocky on the same track. “House Music” has Justin Timberlake. “Away” has Offset. The feature list reads like someone who understood that grief makes you want to reach further, not pull back. Quavo followed that instinct and Pharrell built the architecture around it.

“Away” and What Comes Next

The most discussed moment on QRÖMELIFE is “Away,” the Quavo and Offset collaboration that marks their first link-up in years. In interviews ahead of the album, Quavo pointed directly to Takeoff’s death as the turning point that made the reconciliation with Offset possible. The two men lost the person who connected them. That shared loss became the reason to repair what had fractured. Quavo also confirmed in September 2026 that he and Offset are planning a final Migos album that will include posthumous vocals from Takeoff. A tour is also in the works. “Away” is not the ending of that story. It is the first public step toward it.

HIPHOPADELLIC Perspective

Takeoff is still the center of Migos. He passed in 2022, and everything that has happened since points back to him: Quavo’s grief album, the reconciliation with Offset, “Away” as the first track they shared in years, and now a final Migos album with his voice still in it. QRÖMELIFE sounds like a solo record on the surface. But every major decision on it, who to call, how big to go, who to let back in, traces back to one person who is no longer here. That is not grief. That is gravity. Takeoff is still pulling everything toward him.

One Love. One Family. One Culture.
