A Familiar Formula, A New Chapter
Dave East and Harry Fraud are back together with Price of Pain, a 14 track album released on July 29, 2026.
For HIPHOPADELLIC, this collaboration immediately brings us back to HOFFA, their 2021 album that featured Benny The Butcher, Jim Jones, G Herbo, French Montana, Curren$y and Kiing Shooter. That project established how naturally East’s street focused writing worked over Fraud’s atmospheric production.
Price of Pain picks up that chemistry without trying to recreate HOFFA.
The Singles Set The Tone
The rollout already gave us three strong previews: “Minding My Business,” “Alley Oop” with Styles P, and “Everything Is Up” with Benny The Butcher.
The full album expands that guest list even further.
“Hot Peas & Butter” brings in AZ, while “Follow My Lead” features Snoop Dogg and 38 Spesh. Styles P, Benny The Butcher and Cruch Calhoun are also part of the 14 track tracklist.
The AZ collaboration is particularly interesting.
East has spent years representing New York’s rap tradition, and bringing AZ onto the project connects two generations of East Coast lyricism on the same record.
Harry Fraud Keeps His Sound Timeless
The other half of this equation is Harry Fraud.
His production has always worked best when it creates an atmosphere without taking attention away from the rapper. On Price of Pain, that relationship remains intact. East gets room to tell his stories while Fraud builds the cinematic backdrop around him.
That approach makes the album feel deliberately rooted in rap rather than built around whatever sound happens to dominate the moment.
Dave East Keeps Showing Up
One of the most impressive things about Dave East’s career is his consistency.
Since breaking through with projects such as Kairi Chanel and Paranoia, he has continued releasing music at a steady pace while maintaining his position within New York rap.
Price of Pain adds another focused collaboration to that run.
And the formula still works.
The “Follow My Lead” Conversation
“Follow My Lead” featuring Snoop Dogg has also sparked conversation around the project. While 38 Spesh remains officially credited on the track, his verse does not appear on the final album version. An earlier version containing his verse has since circulated online, giving fans another layer to discuss around the record.
There has been speculation online that the change could be connected to the ongoing tension between 38 Spesh and Jadakiss, but there is no confirmed statement establishing that as the reason.
For us, it is simply another interesting chapter around an album that already has a strong connection to New York’s rap tradition.
