Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer, released August 28, 2026 via Silver Age, is a 15-track, 47-minute boom bap album featuring Busta Rhymes, Method Man, El-P, and Kendra Morris, produced entirely by the Czar-Keys. The rapper behind the mask is Tom Hardy, the Oscar-nominated star of Venom, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Dark Knight Rises.
Hardy has been rapping since he was 14 years old. He recorded a full mixtape called Falling On Your Arse in 1999 under the name Tommy No. 1 before anyone knew his face. The album that just dropped is not his introduction to hip hop. It’s the moment when the world catches up with something that was always there.
Who Czarface Are and Why the “Meets” Series Matters
Czarface is the collaboration between Wu-Tang Clan‘s Inspectah Deck, Boston producer 7L, and MC Esoteric. They debuted with a self-titled album in 2013 and have built one of the most consistent catalogs in underground boom bap, including Every Hero Needs a Villain (2015), A Fistful of Peril (2016), and First Weapon Drawn (2017). Why Hardy’s Voice Belongs on This Record
Tom Hardy built his most iconic character voice from hip hop. In interviews with BBC Radio 1, he explained that the Venom voice is a blend of Busta Rhymes, Method Man and Redman, James Brown, and actor Richard Burton. He told MTV in 2024 that rap music was “hugely influential for me as an artist.” He once said he “would have loved to have been a secret member of the Wu-Tang Clan.” On Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer, those influences are no longer subtext. They are the project. On “Raw Forever” with Busta Rhymes, Hardy references Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Doctor Doom, and Martin Scorsese’s Bringing Out the Dead. On “Mad Technology” with Method Man, he name-checks Stephen King’s Cujo and Misery. On “Grim-Visaged War,” he recites the opening monologue of Shakespeare’s Richard III in his Bane voice from The Dark Knight Rises, layered over boom bap production. That moment alone separates this project from every celebrity rap album ever made.
How a Venom Movie Created a Wu-Tang Album
The connection between Hardy and Czarface started in 2021, when the group was invited to contribute music to Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Esoteric recalled the first contact in a 2021 interview: an early-morning phone call from an international UK number turned out to be Tom Hardy, who told him he was a fan and listened to Czarface while working out. According to Inspectah Deck, the project was originally conceived as “Czarface Meets Venom,” but Marvel licensing blocked the use of the character name. Hardy pivoted and brought Frankie Pulitzer, a masked alter ego he had been developing separately. Between 2021 and 2024, Hardy appeared as Frankie Pulitzer on Czarface releases including Czarmageddon! (2022) and Czartificial Intelligence (2023), and joined Method Man on the 2024 single “Knull and Void” tied to Venom: The Last Dance. By the time the full album arrived, Hardy had been in the Czarface ecosystem for five years.

In hip hop, the mask is never just a mask. MF DOOM wore one to separate the art from the celebrity. Ghostface wore one to protect the identity. Frankie Pulitzer wears one to let Tom Hardy rap without the weight of every movie role sitting on the bar. That is the smartest move on this album. Hardy does not rap as Venom or as Bane or as Max Rockatansky. He raps as a character who exists only in Czarface’s comic-book universe, standing next to Inspectah Deck, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, etc.
When Czarface puts you in the same “Meets” lineage as MF DOOM and Ghostface Killah, that is a co-sign you earn over five years of showing up and delivering bars.
